After our recent move further north, I was thrilled to have a backyard Red-breasted Nuthatch. Though the nuthatch disappeared just before our local Christmas Bird Count (our house was inside the circle!), either the same or another bird reappeared this past spring. The original painting is available. Watercolor, 8x10"
Spring, summer, and fall tall grass prairie. I painted this for a couple who are both professors in Kansas, and who love prairies. I used one large piece of watercolor paper, and included ten plant species, four species of butterfly, and two bees. There are also some sneaky representations of soil microbes, should you care to look closely enough. Watercolor, 30x36", Sold.
Done for a graduate student in Biology at Indiana University. This species of zooplankton is used to study disease ecology. Check it out on the Scientific Illustration page!
