Blue Jay and Berries
Blue Jay and Berries

We in the East tend to get desensitized to the beauty of a Blue Jay, especially when they're seen as the bullies of the feeder area. However, a trip to see other jays (as we took, to Arizona a few years ago), serves as a good reminder that the group is all stunning. I'm thankful we have these bright bits of blue to watch in the starkness of winter. Watercolor, 11x15", available.

Red-breasted Nuthatch
Red-breasted Nuthatch

After our recent move further north, I was thrilled to have a backyard Red-breasted Nuthatch. Though the nuthatch disappeared just before our local Christmas Bird Count (our house was inside the circle!), either the same or another bird reappeared this past spring. The original painting is available. Watercolor, 8x10"
